Gateway Café
About This Spot
Stepping into Gateway Café feels a little like finding a well-loved corner of your own neighborhood you never knew existed. Tucked away along Church End, this cozy local haunt hums with a gentle, unhurried rhythm—one where the baristas know names and the regulars exchange knowing smiles over steaming cups of coffee. It’s a spot that invites you to pause, not just for a meal, but for a moment of genuine connection.
The atmosphere is invitingly familiar, with warm lighting and simple yet thoughtful decor that tells stories of community rather than style trends. There’s a comfortable charm here, where the day’s pace slows, and conversation flows naturally, often sparked by the comforting aromas wafting from the kitchen. It’s not a place to get lost in your laptop. Instead, it’s where neighbors meet, strangers become acquaintances, and everyone finds a little space to breathe.
Food at Gateway Café feels thoughtfully homemade, the kind of fare that quietly nourishes. From mornings filled with buttery croissants and freshly brewed cappuccinos to lunches where warm jacket potatoes or lovingly crafted chicken dishes emerge from the kitchen, each plate carries a sense of care. The menu offers familiar dishes, but it’s the honest preparation and occasional personalized touches that make meals here feel like a small delight. Whether it’s something classic like an English breakfast or a simple sandwich elevated by ripe sun-dried tomatoes, the food invites you to savor each bite without rush.
What truly sets Gateway Café apart is the human element woven into everything it offers. The staff’s attentiveness is warm without being intrusive; the service carries the ease of a friendly chat rather than formal routine. Here, the joy is found not just in what’s on your plate or in your cup, but in the shared moments—the smile exchanged across tables, a nod to a familiar face, or a new friendship quietly budding amid the clatter of cups and soft murmur of contented voices.

Mitch makes the best chips ever. Great mochas and the fresh apple and mango juice is delicious. This place is a community institution. Regulars who don’t know each other become friends. This is like Cheers without the beers. Don’t expect wifi - this is not a “sit here and work” place. Expect great food and great service, with a smile and a chat.

It was ages that I was looking for a traditional Persian tomato omelette, and after a lot of searching I found this cute cafe that the locals told might do it. Came in, beautiful decoration and super friendly staff. What I wanted was not on the menu, but upon request was made by the chef/owner specifically for me :) it was delicious, done to perfection and just what I wanted. Just beware that you have to make a choice : with or without onions, that's the question :) I went with (while the tradition is normally without) it was so good that next time I will go for thw without option! More importantly that O got a proper Persian tea (yes without milk in a clear glass where you can appreciate taste, colour and the aroma). Definitely coming back!

A lovely place: friendly and very reasonably priced home cooked food. I recommend the soup - usually a choice of two.

We tried Gateway Cafe this afternoon and had lunch and coffee. The food is very delicious and the place is clean. We were very happy and loved the food and the service. The decorations inside and outside the place is really nice. I have attached some photos and a video. Everyone wants to enjoy a stress-free meal with a cup of coffee should try this place. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT

Great choice of Panini's and Sandwiches. I thoroughly enjoy my Mozzarella Tomato Lettuce Panini from here with Salt and Pepper. Nicely grilled too. Friendly staff, I will definitely come here again and eat in this time.
